JoECephus with LUKE JOHN

At the age of fifteen Joey Killingsworth aka Joecephus began his professional music career one night playing drums — backing up his father, the venerable rockabilly legend Bobby “Bo Jack” Killingsworth, Jumpin’ Gene Simmons (known for his novelty hit ‘Haunted House’) and Carrie Lewis who was pregnant with Jerry Lee’s son at the time (!). In the 90s he began playing around Memphis regularly with the band Grendel Crane and at the turn of the century began working steadily with another rockabilly legend Eddie Bond. In the 2000's he played guitar for a run of shows with Black Oak Arkansas and has also backed Shooter Jennings, JD Pinkus (Butthole Surfers/Melvins) and 80's metal legend Thor.

Joey carries the lessons learned on the road with Bond to this day. Now, as leader, guitarist and frontman for Joecephus and the George Jonestown Massacre, who have been referred to as “sounding like if Black Oak Arkansas grew up listening to Motorhead”, he keeps up a workmanlike pace of touring and recording with the band. The band has made nine studio releases over the past sixteen years and can be heard regularly on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The charity albums he has co-produced with Dik LeDoux have featured a stunning array of guest artists including Alice Cooper, Keith Morris, Kim Thayil, J. Mascis, Jello Biafra, Neil Fallon (Clutch), King Buzzo (Melvins), Mick Harvey and Warren Ellis (both of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) and dozens of other recognizable names.

Growing up surrounded by the rich culture,  sights and sounds of Memphis, it's no surprise that Luke John developed a passion for music early. He started playing guitar at the age of 16, and signed his first record deal just 2 year later as the singer/songwriter of hard rock band Another Society. The band toured extensively from 1995-2000, performing nationwide alongside artists like Faith No More, Godsmack, and Monster Magnet. After a nonstop tour schedule, Luke took a breather and refocused on producing. in the mid 00's He honed his skills via sessionwork with a variety of projects in different, genres, pushing his boundaries as a musician. Over the next few years Luke would record and mix projects in Los Angeles. Memphis, Kansas city and Malibu. During this time he began to takeon more production-related roles with various artists, and is now a full-time songwriter and producer. His recent projects include work with James Saez, Corbin Dooley, Pete Matthews among many others. Luke now works out of Stumble Studio, hisown recording and production space alongside engineer Dylan Morrow.
