Straight outta Washington, DC, Starr and The Czars bring together an all-star cast of garage-rock lifers into one fuzz-drenched new outfit. Fronted by Jake Starr (Adam West, Jake Starr & The Delicious Fullness, Go Mod Go!, Goy Division...), the band features Peter Greenberg and Michael Lewis, two original members of Boston’s legendary DMZ.

After their DMZ days, Greenberg and Lewis both carried the flame in Lyres, key figures in the late ’70s / early ’80s garage revival. Greenberg went on to co-found The Customs and Barrence Whitfield & The Savages, while Lewis added his bass and guitar firepower to The A-Bones, The Schramms, Yo La Tengo and The Zantees. Starr, meanwhile, has long been a pillar of DC’s garage underground.

Rounding out the line-up are Sean Crowley (frontman for DC’s The Hall Monitors) sharing lead vocals and guitar with Starr, and Nathaniel Osgood (The Hall Monitors, Jake Starr & The Delicious Fullness) on drums — keeping the chaos stitched together with a hypnotic backbeat.

The band was born when Greenberg relocated to DC from New Mexico and joined Starr’s Delicious Fullness as second guitarist. After new songs started taking shape and Mike Lewis came.
